Weekly Writing Prompts #10

When it comes down to it, the books we love are just strings of letters that happen to be placed in just the right order that something beautiful is formed. If we took a part out it wouldn’t be the same.

This writing prompt depends on that randomness of words and sentences that make up an entire novel. Follow these steps for a truly unique writing experience:

Grab the nearest book

It doesn’t matter what it is, even a dictionary, and the more random the better!

Flip to a page

Don’t change the page if you don’t like the look of it, just stick to it and embrace whatever comes next.

Count down 3 lines

Use this sentence (or part thereof) to start you off.

Why?

The beauty of this exercise is that you can change it up each time you do it. Change the book. Change the line number. Pick a specific page to turn to.

The possibilities are endless, which is exactly why we love writing!

Don’t forget to check out the rest of our writing prompts for even more creative challenges.
