About

Based in Sydney, Australia, Writer’s Edit is a young online literary magazine created especially for writers and book lovers. Founded in July 2013, the Writer’s Edit concept evolved as Founding Editor, Helen, explored the literary gems of Europe.

From Beatrix Potter’s Lake District to Dickens’ London; and from Franz Kafka’s Prague to Anne Frank’s Amsterdam, the idea that was Writer’s Edit, took on a life of its own.

Designed as a place of comfort and support for those who are new to the industry as well as those who are old friends, our site houses advice for fiction writers, self-publishers and freelance writers.

In 2014, Writer’s Edit achieved its ultimate goal: becoming a small press. Writer’s Edit Press was born to publish our Kindling anthology of creative writing, you can read more about Kindling here.

We have since published three volumes, and are now moving on to new projects. Long-term, our dream is to play an even bigger part in helping the development of the future Austens and Fitzgeralds.

In 2017, Writer’s Edit Press also launched a fantasy imprint: Talem Press. Talem recently published the bestselling YA fantasy novel, Heart of Mist by our founding editor, Helen Scheuerer.

Unlike a lot of other literary publications, Writer’s Edit believes in strong relationships with our writers. We offer advice, inspiration, feedback, friendship and a fresh and engaging publication platform for emerging authors, without the affiliate sales pitches.

As writers ourselves, we understand more about the writer’s plight than the average publication, and so we aim to reply to every query with honesty and encouragement.

Writer’s Edit has gone from a one-woman show to a small team of dedicated wordsmiths.

Into its eighth year now, Writer’s Edit is determined to continue to support writers from all around the globe with its in-depth advice articles and thriving online community.
