Writer Workspace – Forbes & Burton Cafe

Sometimes, us writers need to escape the confines of our own desks and homes and venture elsewhere to find that much-needed focus and writer-time. At this point, you’re probably in need of some great coffee… a chilled out environment… and perhaps Wifi?

We’ve recently discovered a little café, tucked away from the hustle and bustle – Forbes & Burton. Located as the name suggests, on the corner of Forbes Street and Burton Street in trendy Darlinghurst, the café is right where you want it, minus the noise and stress of the city.

Faced with a power-out in our office, we headed there with a hope of getting some work done. And we couldn’t have been happier. Ordering only a coffee each (the food was a tad pricey for us), the waitress did everything she could to help set us up, including supplying us with an extension cord to charge our computers with and the password for the Wifi. We were made to feel very welcome and stayed put for almost three hours, without ordering anything extra and not feeling pressured to do so.

With tables big and sturdy enough for a bunch of books and a laptop, as well as a spacious setup so that no one is looking over your shoulder, Forbes & Burton is all in all, a great spot for a writer to get some solid work done.
