Weekly Writing Prompts: #13

In light of the festive season we’ve set up a cracking Christmas writing prompt. This week it’s all about crossing genres and creating something playful and wacky.

Write a Crazy Christmas

Write a Christmas story or poem, but twist it up with an unexpected genre. It could be horror, western, romance, even sci-fi.

Christmas is a great starting point to mix your writing up with because it has clear traditions and themes that you can work into just about any setting.

It doesn’t matter how ridiculous the plot or the characters are (in fact, the weirder the better!) because this exercise is all about having fun.

Writing is about imagination after all, so think of this prompt as a way to let loose from the serious side of skill and technique.

Check out our writing prompts page for even more challenging exercises, and have a Merry Christmas!
