Last year, Writer’s Edit branched out to become a small press and published its first ever book – Kindling. This was an anthology including short stories, poetry, and non-fiction by writers from all around Australia and the world.
It set the bar high, with some of our authors going on to publish full length books like Kate Liston-Mills and Jenny Bravo, win awards like Lee Kofman, Nick Gadd and Chloe Higgins, while our cover designer Alissa took home the Young Designer of the Year award at the Australian Book Design Awards.
Nothing much to live up to second time round at all…
Nonetheless – we’re feeling pretty confident. Slated for release this November, Kindling Volume II, is set to be a little heavier this time. With even more fantastic fiction and poetry, as well as a stellar list of creative non-fiction and industry advice, we can’t wait to launch her out into the world.
Just this week we finalised our list, and trust us – each piece has something special to offer. We’ve listened to what our readers want more of and so there’s a truckload of writing and publishing advice to be included on top of some breathtaking creative writing.
This year we’ve decided not to crowdfund, at least not officially. Instead, we’re asking organisations and individuals to help out by contributing whatever they can to help make our book and launch happen!
We’ve already got the likes of Griffith Review, South Coast Writers’ Centre, Mascara Literary Review and UWA Publishing on board!
While we’re off to a great start, we’re not quite there yet in terms of funding! Which is why we need your help! Whether you share this post, or contribute a little something yourself – everything adds up!
We couldn’t be more thrilled with the response we’ve got towards our first book, and we want our second to have that same chance for success!
Any contribution, big or small is very much appreciated!
Or hit one of the share buttons on the side to help get the word out!
We’re very much looking forward to launching our second book out into the world, and can’t wait for you to read it.
Until next time,
– The Kindling Editorial Team
