Australian authors of commercial adult and young adult fiction and non-fiction are invited to submit themselves for consideration for the Hachette Australia Manuscript Development Program. Up to 10 writers are selected to take part in a four-day retreat, during which Hachette Australia publishers, editors and authors provide direct feedback on their manuscripts. Entry fee is $55AUD. Aesthetica Magazine's international literary prize is now open for entries in two categories: short fiction (up to 2000 words) and poetry (no more than 40 lines). To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Saveas Writers welcomes poems and stories in the Gothic tradition for its international writing competition. Writers may enter prose up to 2500 words or poems up to 60 lines. First prize is £200, second prize is £100 and third prize is £50.
