The 2018 Brighton Prize is now open for entries in two categories: short story (between 1000 and 2000 words) and flash fiction (up to 350 words). Winning short story receives £1000 and two runners-up receive £100 each. Winning flash fiction receives £500 and two runners-up receive £50 each. Short story entry fee is £8; flash fiction entry fee is £6. Entries close 1st July.
The 2018 Richell Prize for Emerging Writers welcomes entries from Australian writers of adult fiction and adult narrative non-fiction. Winner receives $10,000AUD in prize money and a year’s mentoring with one of Hachette Australia’s publishers. Entries close 9th July.
F(r)iction is open for entries to its 2018 Summer Literary Contests. Categories include Short Story (1000 to 7500 words, $1000USD prize), Flash Fiction (up to 750 words, $300 prize) and Poetry (three pages or less per poem, $300 prize). Five finalists in each category will receive free professional edits on their submission and will be considered for publication. Entries close 15th July.

The William Faulkner Literary Competition is open for 2018 in several categories, including Novel and Adult Short Story (other categories are One Act Play, Poetry and Student Short Story). Winner in the Novel category receives $2000USD and Adult Short Story winners receive $600 (first), $300 (second) and $200 (third). Entry fee is $50 for Novel category and $20 for Adult Short Story. Entries close 15th July for the Novel category and 31st July for the Adult Short Story category.
The annual HG Wells Short Story Competition offers a £250 Senior (authors aged 22 and over) and £1000 Junior (authors aged 21 and under) prize and publication of all shortlisted entries in an anthology. Short stories between 1500 and 5000 words are accepted. The theme for this year's competition is 'peace'. Entry fee for Senior category is £10 or £5 for those with student ID. Entries close 23rd July.
Cinnamon Press is open for entries of novels, novellas and short story collections from those who have not had a novel or full-length short story collection previously published through a press. Winner receives one year's free mentoring worth £1000 or (for those who have completed mentoring with us) 100 copies of the novel/collection + publishing contract. Adult and crossover novels only. InkTears welcomes entries of flash fiction 500 words or fewer for its 2018 competition. Winner receives £250, runner-up £50 and eight Highly Commended entries £25 each. All winning entries will be published. £3.50 entry fee per story. Entries close 31st July.
