Sutherland Shire Writers’ Festival

Writers' Festival must-haves...
Writers’ Festival must-haves…

One of the things that doesn’t ever get emphasised enough to writers is the importance of community. The idea of getting to know other writers, editors and readers in the industry is often left undervalued and looked down upon as just shallow ‘networking’. It’s not.

We won’t deny that writing is more often than not, a solo venture, us writers usually love our own company and could happily spend hours at a time with nothing but our books and notepads for entertainment. However, because it’s such a lonely profession at times, most of us at one point or another will feel the need to have support from somewhere. Whether this is another writer who knows what you’re going through, a reader to tell you that your work matters or even an editor, to tell you how to improve… support is a must. And where better to find it than at a Writers’ Festival?

With tickets on sale now, the Sutherland Shire Writers’ Festival will play out across three days – 16th-18th of November 2013. As a conference specifically for writers and readers alike, we thought this would definitely interest some of our readers.

Featuring authors like Kate Forsyth, Tim Ferguson, Matthew Reilly, Dianne Blacklock, Gabrielle Lord, Mark Dapin, Libby Gleeson and more, you’re bound to find an author talk to benefit from. This special conference is also giving aspiring writers the opportunity to meet with editors from Penguin Random House, Pan Macmillan, Simon & Schuster and Ford Street for a publishing consultation.

With author interviews, book launches and signings, as well as full catering, we suggest you get your tickets asap, here.
